A pickle

As you view this particular jar and see this pickle, you might be wondering what the hell is this about. Well, as with most things with me ( with life in general) there is far more to it than what initially appears.

These particular pickles are only made (to my knowledge) in Missouri and they by far are the hottest you will ever lay your lips on. I remember as a young kid of 7/8 getting them from the local corner store.

It would be well over forty years before I would have the pleasure of tasting one of them again, which brings me to write this post.

Several years ago a cousin made a post about these pickles, and that post not only made my mouth water but brought back a flood of memories of a more innocent and joyful childhood. I then set about trying to acquire at least one of these appetizing cucumbers. I called several stores trying to arrange a sale of sorts and arrange to ship to no avail. I then went about calling family members to obtain at least one.

In all honesty, one family member sent me a dozen but unfortunately, they were not the right ones. I was and will remain appreciative for what they did. There was another person that I explained my predicament to and pleaded to get me one of these things. I went as far as to say I would pay for everything as long as they purchased it.  I will not put the person on blast but let’s just say when they were in a situation I was there.

Fast forward to about a week ago. I was on Facebook clowning with that same cousin I mentioned earlier ( who years ago posted about the pickle) we started talking and he said he would send me one, and it arrived within the week. This is a cousin I have never met physically (at least not yet) but he sent this item based solely on the strength of his word.

Oh my goodness! Smelling and tasting that pickle brought back all those memories of that youthful childhood (no I am not trying to live in the past, but it was fun to mentally revisit) not to mention how thankful I was.

The love shown and generosity of this gesture just so happened to coincide with a piece I am giving individual as well. This recent gesture just made me so happy that I put some extra personalization into it.

Sam Cooke when he was singing gospel with a group the soul stirrers sang this song “Wonderful”…Awww Shoot- you can hear it yourself

That is how I feel most days but after receiving this pickle and the way I received made me feel all the more so, because of a pickle!
