Tonight

This post is one of my favorites because I’m doing a collab with this amazing poet by the name of  Luciana  Rio who happens to be related to Rocio Mendez who did a duet with Raphael Saddiq. She goes by the name Mz. Represent.

I will certainly share more of our collaborative efforts in the future, and I am honored to do a piece showcasing how beautiful I think she is but for now

We present to you…..Tonight

Tonight was different….. it was in the way that the wind blew and the stars glistened there was no way I could spend tonight at home being single had become synonymous with being alone donning my highest heels and my lowest cut dress I left my lonely existence behind and set out on a quest…. a quest for simple satisfaction tired of talking and ready for action tonight was different…..

I ended up at a quaint poetry spot on the other side of town but before I could make it in and have a sit down I heard a sweet melody coming from the club across the street it wrapped itself all around me and infused me with its heat I headed toward the sounds against my will with each beat of the bass I was beginning to feel…..alive as the beats vibrated through my chest and pulsated in my thighs the horns seduced me with such ease and each note from the piano left me thoroughly pleased I opened the door not really sure of what I was expecting to see but I found myself staring into the most piercing pair of eyes and to my surprise they were staring back at me yes…tonight would be different I always see them as they walk in But never has my attention been this far spent Although I didn’t want to seem desperate with my stare I could not release her from my sight and of that she was very aware I watched her as she moved slowly to the bar In that nicely fitted dress and stilettos that enhanced her sexiness as she walked With every step she took I watched as she periodically glanced back at me I quickly changed the song that was playing and put in “ Kool and the Gangs Tonight

Tonight would be different… I got the waitress’ attention and this is what I said “Hey, the beautiful lady at the bar with the very pretty hair gorgeous dark brown eyes in the very sexy dress with those seriously amazing thighs in those 5 inch stilettos…All of her drinks are on me Oh and please to tell her that this song is my testimony As I watched her without shame I felt a passion as well as desire Everything about her had me completely mesmerized I have seen them come and I have watched them go away But this one right here without any doubt was truly the Lady of my every Day The appeal of her confidence continued to stimulate my interest This was not a typical night…Tonight would be different.

I walked over to the bar,s at in a way that i could see him any inhibitions i had i left outside…tonight I didnt need them he stopped the song that was playing mid way through to the chagrin of some of the patrons then just as quickly he played my song……. “there goes my baby” I knew it was for me even before I spoke to the waitress I borrowed her pad and scribbled something quickly and asked if she’d be so kind and take it back to the dj…. a man id known all of five minutes…didn’t even know his name but I knew I couldn’t deny the fact that within me he’d ignited a flame I was confident that after tonight I wouldn’t be the same I felt a wildness down in my spirit that I was sure he knew how to tame so I sat and waited patiently for him to make his next move the anticipation was too much….my my my…if only he knew the thoughts I was having, basking in the glow of the vibes he was sending tonight wouldn’t be the same…..because tonight…I was different

The waitress returned to me with a note that was precise and to the point The note said that she was feeling me and there was no need for her to front I was still very amazed that I had seen someone as beautiful as she And much more to my amazement she was interested in me I watched as guys very often sat next to her trying to buy her drinks and get her to dance I was watchin so hard that i could read her lips, “Sorry not thirsty and I have a man” Songs by Luther, Marvin, The Ojay’s, and Maze, and others as such is for some reason all that I could find Every song in which I played I played with her in mind I felt the need to swing out so i Woman By Raheem Devaughn As I walked over to her she was getting out of her seat as if she was reading me We made our way to the dance floor and the danced like we had been partners for years Tonight would be different and for it to end was my biggest fear In a continuous play followed Sweetest Taboo by Sade, then”Like a star by Corrine Bailey Raye” As I held her close and whispered the words to the songs in her ear I never thought I’d experience love at first site If there was a minister in the spot that night, she coulda became my wife I stood on the dance floor and watched as she worked her way back to her seat I signaled to the bartender, anotha drink for the lady on me As back to the DJ booth I went I could only think…Tonight was different…

tonight I let my hair down…tonight…I danced tonight I allowed myself to enjoy the company of this man I was caught in the moment….felt so liberated my every desire he was in tune with, my every want he satiated we hadn’t really spoken but we communicated in other ways the harmonious movement of our bodies the heat within our gaze so amazed………I was surely being wooed I had been chased many times but never had I been pursued he held on to me for dear life but handled me as if I would break I was dreading the moment we’d have to end our embrace he caressed the side of my cheek, whispered something to me so sweet I tried desperately to pull myself together and went back to my seat…….. and I waited I wasn’t leaving ‘til we had a chance to talk who would have known when I decided to leave that dreary life behind I would have walked right into heaven into the arms of an angel stole my heart without even coming from behind his table he played the soundtrack of his heart and I eagerly listened now not only tonight but every night here after will

be wonderfully different
